Hello Cvent Community,

We are back with our June Member Spotlight. The purpose of this series is to highlight and acknowledge stand-out individuals within Community. The idea is that these Cvent users will be able to provide some insight and perspective around their roles, industries, and how they use Cvent. Our team will be hand-picking these individuals based on their Community involvement and Cvent expertise.

With that said, our next Member Spotlight features... (insert drumroll sound effect)

Meet Tori

Tori is an events and meeting planner. She became Cvent Advanced Event Management certified during her last job and decided to do something where she got to use Cvent more often. Tori has also worked in marketing and graphic design and loves seizing opportunities to apply those skills in her role. Tori is based in Colorado with her family and loves traveling to new places!
Tori is a 2023 Cvent Excellence Awards Finalist and will be speaking at #CventCONNECT 2023 so keep an eye out for her session in the virtual space or even in person.

You can find and connect with Tori on LinkedIn here:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/torimartinez/

@Kameron Kidd was able to have a chat with Tori and ask her some questions.

Can you share a little about the company you work for and your background?

I am an Event Technology Specialist for Direct Travel. I started with the company a year ago. I am part of the Meetings and Events East Region, based out of Raleigh-Durham. Prior to that, I was an event planner in the physical security industry for seven years, where I used Cvent to manage our annual Users Conference and smaller customer events.

How long have you been using Cvent and what products do you currently use?

This is my seventh year with Cvent! Currently I work mostly in the Event Management, Attendee Hub, Abstract Management, and Event App, but I'm also a huge fan of OnArrival, which I used at my prior position.

Do you have a favorite event or venue that you've been to?

Of all the Users Conferences I've planned, I think my favorite one was at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort right here in Colorado Springs. Even when a summer storm damaged one of our meeting rooms, they were able to help us pivot to a new plan and put on a fantastic event, including a beach party - in Colorado!

As for events I've been to, you can't beat Cvent Connect - I mean, an event for event planners? You know it's always going to be top-notch!

Do you have a favorite Cvent article or training that you think really helped you be successful with Cvent technology?

I have so many great articles bookmarked in Knowledge Base, but since so many of my sites work with the client's branding colors, I tend to check Flex's Theme Color Defaults and Flex's Pop-Up Modal Colors a lot to make sure that the color palette I choose will put the right colors in the right places.

Are you Cvent certified and if so which certifications do you hold? Do those certifications help you train others? Have they played a role in advancing your career in some way?

I am Cvent certified in Advanced Event Management, Attendee Hub, and Event Marketing Strategy, and I am currently working on my Hybrid Events certification. I feel like the things I have learned through the certification process helped me move to this job, and also allow me to help my co-workers better when questions arise about the technology.

How have you helped others within your organization be successful with Cvent technology?

The other members of my team are also well-versed in the software, but I have helped our meeting planners when questions come up. I also worked closely with one planner to help her learn the software and eventually obtain her own Cvent certification.

For those who are just starting with Cvent, what advice would you share with them?

I learned an incredible amount from the amazing Matt Greene from Client Services at the start of my Cvent journey; I think your Client Success Consultant can be a wealth of knowledge. But for an all-around look at the software, you can't beat the training courses - the video tutelage is a great way to really find your way around the software. And when it comes to specific questions about a feature, the Knowledge Base articles are a great place to find answers!

What is your favorite Cvent feature and why?

Using OnArrival Premium in conjunction with Event in a Box was a game changer at my old position. The amount of time it saved us on badging and the improvement of the attendee check-in experience was fantastic. Now, I think my favorite feature is the website and registration builder in Event Management. It has evolved so much over the years and I really appreciate how well it can work for every type of event I manage, from simple to incredibly complex.

Huge thanks to Tori for her time and contributions to the Community. We're looking forward to seeing what you can accomplish in 2023! As a small token of appreciation, Tori will receive a Cvent care package.
