Resources within the Community

The Library is intended to act as a community-wide resource center for all members to share best-practice documents, tips, and how-to information. The one you're likely most familiar with is within our Open Forum. Each Community User Group has its own dedicated Library section as well. Currently, in the Open Forum Library, we have four folder categories sorted by Cvent Products, Topics, Supplier & Venue, and Contests.

We’re open to folder category ideas. Comment below if there’s a category you’d like to see. Keeping things organized and tidy will only benefit findability. Library entries will also have any relevant tags attached to them if they come from a discussion post or reply.

How to create a library entry

Creating an Entry from a Discussion Post:

  1. The most common way for a library entry to be created is when writing up a discussion post or replying to a discussion post. You’ll craft your discussion or question as you normally would, along with selecting any applicable topic tags and discussion subjects. Just below the text field, you’ll see the “Add Attachment” option.

  1. From this window you’ll be able to select one or more files to upload and share along with your post. Accepted file types include documents, images, slideshows, spreadsheets, videos, etc.

Creating an Entry as a Response:

  1. If you’re replying to a peers question and you have the perfect file to share that can help them with their problem you can find the “Upload file” button below in the response window.

  1. You can upload a file directly into the library from the main library page in the via the “Create Entry” button. When creating your library entry, it will be similar to a discussion post requiring a title, selected library, selected folder, text, topic tags, entry type, owner name (most likely you as the submitter), and a custom thumbnail if you’d like.

How to download, follow, favorite, and share a library entry

Downloads
  1. When viewing a file within a discussion you’ll be able to click on that file and automatically download OR view it and then click on the download button in the upper right corner. This will depend on the file type (example: word doc vs pdf).

  1. When viewing the library file, click on the title and you’ll see the window expand on the right with the “Download” button appearing.

Following

Following a library entry or the discussion it came from will enable you to be notified of any updates or additional contributions around the entry. Look for the “Follow” option to the right side of the original post next to the “Like” button and simply click on the star icon.

Favorites

When viewing a library file in the direct discussion post or article you have the option to use the Actions button on the right to Favorite that library entry to be added to your own dedicated list of favorites that you can see in your profile under Settings > Library Favorites.

Sharing

Lastly, from the same view used to “Add to Favorites” you can click on the Share option to send the file or resource to anyone you’d like directly via email.
