Hello! My company is hosting 2 internal retreats for 2 different groups (so technically, 2 different events) at the same hotel, with shared meal times. I'm looking for opinions on whether we should create 2 separate events in Cvent, or have one event with Registration Types. We think having one event would be helpful for when we pull the hotel block information (since everyone at both events will be at the same hotel block), but we are worried about email communication and app aspects getting jumbled/confusing. This will also be our first go-around with Registration Types, if so.

99% of our events are multiple registration types, registration paths, guest quantity, and payment options. 

When setting up multiple registration types you can limit visibility of the admission item, sessions, and various components to the specific group. For the lunch and hotel block you can assign visibility to both registrations types. 

With communications you can also upload multiple invitation list. Each group will have their own set of emails, Save The Date, Invitation, and Registration Confirmation to name a few.
