Hey there

No, legacy badges are not compatible with the OnArrival Badge Designer. However, re-creating old badge designs should be a lot quicker and easier with the new intuitive workflows! Additionally, badges created in the new designer can be added to the account library to be used in other events.

We will be adding support for PDF printing in the OnArrival Badge Designer in the 2nd half of this year (2024)

We occasionally have sub-events within an event (pre or post conference dates). We try to use separate layouts on badges so at a glance we can see if it's a pre-conference attendee or someone attending the main conference. Would we need to use 2 different renditions of EIB or can the system be set-up to print two totally different badges?

Hi Maria,

Thanks for your question!

We are currently working on building this out, and this should be available sometime in the next few months. After that point, you will be able to export badges much the same as you can currently export them as a PDF for the legacy badge designer. That will also allow you to download all badge preview and send for approval.

The logo can be collected but would need to be downloaded and added to their badge, likely with conditional logic to only show the relevant logo for certain company employees - I can definitely take this down as feedback!

The new OnArrival Badge Designer is much more flexible in design, and does support adding images, supports your account's Custom Fonts, etc. and is supported through Event in a Box. However, EIB currently includes thermal transfer printers, so will not support color printing.

I want to share a badge design across several events, but need to make small edits for branding purposes per event - is this possible? Also I need to be able to export the badge image as a hires image? We want to create physical and virtual signage and leverage the badge image as part of the signs.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your question!

You're able to add badge templates to your library - from the left-hand navigation in your event, click OnArrival, then Badges. 

Within the badge, click Edit badge, then select Add to Library from the dropdown. Rename the badge if necessary, then click Add. Your badge or certificate will now be saved as a template in the folder you selected under Admin > Templates > Badges & Certificates. You can then pull it into subsequent events, and then make smaller changes as necessary!

Hi, Nicole.

We have rolled out an array of new reports and will continue to enhance and update our reporting capabilities. Some of our capabilities can be found here.

We recently announced a new Build-Your-Own Report capability as well. It is limited in what fields you can use now, but we will be adding more fields in 2024 and into 2025.

The OnArrival Badge designer is supported for international characters. Attendees do have the ability to update fields prior to printing, which can include international characters.

Hi Chelsea,

Thanks for your question!

The new badge designer will support conditional logic on all badge fields, whereas the legacy badge designer only supported conditional logic on a select number of fields - we're also looking to see how we can expand on that conditional logic in the future.

We release feature enhancements on a 2 week cycle, and they should always be listed in Product News as well for reference - they will automatically be pushed to user accounts with exceptions for any accounts hosting live events.

What events do you recommend using EIB for vs not? For a large compony, do you recommend buying your own systems or renting the EIB from Cvent for each event, at what point does it make it more cost efficient to buy your own units?

The Regular Event in a Box supports events with up to 250 attendees, the  Large Event in a Box is ideal for events with a maximum of 500 attendees, and our new XL Event in a Box supports events up to 750 attendees.
