  • 1.  Best reference source for building out a website in attendee hub

I feel like I must be missing something. I am trying to build out a website and then create the registration paths for an event, and I keep finding contradictory information or missing files when I'm searching for answers on what I need.

I started with Welcome to Attendee Hub (cvent.com) which recommends checking out the Attendee Website overview (Meet Our Attendee Hub Website (cvent.com) ) before beginning. That page then gives an overview of sections that you can customize to display, but when clicking the "customize to display" link you go to "Determining When Cards Will Appear on Your Attendee Hub Home Page (cvent.com)" and seems way more involved than what I'm looking for.

The way the rest of the article goes, it seems that I need to have all of my content (sessions, speakers, exhibitors, etc) created before I can really build out the website. Is this the case?

When I go to just work on the graphics section, I'm again getting frustrated. I found a cheat sheet for graphic sizes, Attendee Hub Graphics Cheat Sheet (cvent.com), which is what I created my graphics based on. But then when going into the attendee hub website and app builder, it says "website cover images have been replaced by banners. Go to Banners to add images to your website." There it says the recommended size is different from what was on the cheat sheet. In an older event, we have a banner that is the full width of the page and displays the whole image, but now when I try to edit the banner on the header and footer page, it's all distorted and doesn't look anything like what I want.

I still don't really understand the difference between the Event Website and the Attendee Hub website. I can't get it to create anything that looks like what is displayed in any of the help articles.

What's the best resource for building the event from scratch? I'm wasting way too much time going in circles here, and feel like I must be missing something obvious or easy.

    Hi Retha!

It's easy to get the terms mixed up, and if you are building an Event website, and referencing graphics and information about an Attendee Website (Attendee Hub), you are definitely going to end up with some wrong information!

The Event Website is the pre-registration website that you can build along with your registration. The pages can be set to view by specific registration types, or for all viewers. From that site, viewers can enter the registration path and begin the registration process.

The Attendee Website, or Attendee Hub, is a post-registration website available only to registrants. They can log into the site with their name and the email they used to register. This site can have details about the event, their personal agenda or session registration (especially if you did not offer it on the registration site), speaker and sponsor/exhibitor pages, their profile, etc. Much of the information built into the Attendee Hub also transfers into the Event App.

It looks like everything you've been referencing to build from is for Attendee Hub, which is why it doesn't look the same when you go to the builder for the Event Website.

The Registration Learning Center probably has the most wealth of information all in one place for building the Event Website and the Registration site. You can find it here:
    https://community.cvent.com/education/learning-centers/product/registration

I hope that is helpful! :)
