  • 1.  Passkey-Is it for me?

    Posted 08-31-2023 13:21

We are looking at adding Passkey to our package versus using the normal hotel/credit card widget in Cvent.  Most of our housing blocks are sub-blocks through associations and not direct contracts with the hotel.  We've been told that Passkey does not speak to portals such as Spargo, OnPeak, Maritz, etc.  Essentially, this means we would have to manually extract our list and upload it still.

However, we were then hoping that, once we had confirmation numbers, we could reupload to Passkey in order to streamline last minute changes and have the hotel pass back itemized folios of what they charged me.

    My questions are:

    • Is Passkey interface a better experience than the Cvent widget?
    • Would hotels be able to link my changes back to blocks/sublocks and apply the correct discounted rate?
    • Would hotels use Passkey to pass back my folios (does anyone have experience with this)?

    Hi Elizabeth,

    Hope you are doing well!

Regarding the registration websites you can link with Passkey, you can follow this article and, it will provide you detailed information.

Which Event Registration Providers are Integrated with Passkey?
However, when you say which option is better, that will only depend on what information you are looking to collect.

Also, Passkey can be integrated with Cvent 2 way, you can read more about it by referring to the article - Enabling the Two-Way Passkey Integration in Your Event
Complete Guide to Integrate Events with Passkey

To know more about Hotel request option with Cvent, you can refer to the article- Collecting Hotel requests in your Event.

If you are looking to use Passkey integrated with Cvent, it will give a seamless experience, to collect all your hotel information. Also, if you are just looking gather Hotel name, along with check-in check- out information, you can also use the Travel feature in Cvent.

I would recommend you to get in touch with your Account Manager, to get more insight as to what option would be suitable for you, as both options are great depending on what is required in your event.

    Hope this helps!

We have had a few hotels share their Passkey with us although we couldnt get the two-way integration to work.

I have also found that some hotels who say they have Passkey, don't. Passkey is a generic term to some hotels.
