Thank you Rachel for sharing your insights. Your approach of keeping things simple and concise during registration and feedback collection definitely led to better results.
By streamlining the forms and focusing on essential information, you improved response rates. Offering downloadable PDFs allowed attendees to easily access and reference important documents.
Its a great tip that you avoid complications, it's crucial to avoid collecting unnecessary information.

Subject: Share and Tell - Simplifying Event Registration and Feedback for Better Results
Job Title: Sr. Event Brand Technologist
Event Description: C-Level Corporate Event for Networking and Thought Leadership
Event Dates: September 2023
Phase of Event Planning: Event Complete
Type of Event: Internal
What Worked for You:
- Keeping everything simple and to the point for the best responses! Both upon registration and with the feedback form. We find when it's complicated or people need to think to fill it out, they won't and we lose them. So keeping it as simple collecting only the information you really need led to better response results.
- Included important things as downloadable forms as well. While we'd like people to reference the site sometimes they want to easily print so making things available as a PDF they can take too was helpful.
What to Avoid:
- Collecting information you don't need. We caused a lot of problems asking people to go back and add their flight information because we thought it'd help us plan for airport buses, but most of the information came in too late to be helpful and it just caused confusion amongst registrants whereby some even accidentally cancelled.
- Try and lock down people's ability to change once on site. We offer activities that have limits and on-site people started trying to switch activities on their own and it caused some issues.
