    Hello All,

My name is Kelly and I am a semi-newby at corporate event planning. My company asked me to average our ratings for post-event survey feedback regarding attendee experience and I was wondering if anyone had any info on what would be considered industry standard? We are averaging a 4.43 out of 5 stars for our inaugural year of events and were looking for feedback on how other companies were averaging. I appreciate any help offered!

That's great a great start! We also look at overall numbers feedback and consider anything over a 4 as amazing! We also put in some specific ratings, food, beverage, location - so if there was a certain area that could be improved that feedback wouldn't necessarily affect the overall rating.

We have been averaging about that same feedback on our events, I think it's due in part to people wanting to get back in person and enjoying the time.

Agree that those ratings are a great start! That said, your company is not asking a fair question -- creating industry benchmarks means looking at equivalent events -- with similar staffing ratios, size and facility, etc. and ratings depend on exactly what you are asking. I agree with Beth below that looking at your own ratings helps identify strengths and weaknesses of your event. How does your company use ratings? To market your services or to actually get the feedback you need to do an even better job next time? Do you use speaker ratings to help determine your program in future years? We find that even if we add hard, specific questions -- if we do a good job our overall ratings stay high. We also find open-ended feedback, not ratings, especially useful.

    Agree.

When we do a post event survey ratings can be from one extreme to another. Sometimes I wonder if they were even there. :)
And sometimes I wonder if I was there. :)
