  • 1.  Why Can't I Edit My Consent Question?

    Posted 12-14-2022 10:58
Pretty frustrated right now. Using the "Consent Question" for the first time ever and I just added it into my registration path and clicked "save," but then I didn't like the wording so I wanted to tweak it and now suddenly I am not able to edit any of the text. How is this a helpful tool? Anyone else facing this? Am I missing something? I've been using general questions for years now....

Amanda, I was also frustrated when that happened to me. Until I realise it may be a protection for the misuse of the consent questions. Imagine that you consent to something and later on the question is edited, but your consent is still there for this new edited question.

    Just make a new one.

It doesn't make sense to lock it until registration has been launched. Our event is in test mode right now.

Amanda, what Jorge said is the answer Cvent gives for not allowing changes to the question after saving.  The crux being, if you change the question after someone has consented, there is a disconnect between what was being asked and what was consented to.

That said, I understand your frustration as I too had the same thought.  At least lock it down after registration is launched but who are we to say.

If you are less concerned with any legal backlash, you can build your own consent question using the "Choice Question" widget, make it required, set it to accept Multiple Answers but then only have a single answer.  This will stop someone if they do not consent but still make them feel like they have a choice as they can check or uncheck the box (versus using a Radio button, single choice where once they select it they can't un-select it).

Amanda, I completely agree. I actually added this to the Ideas section the other day - feel free to up vote it: https://community.cvent.com/idea/edit-consent-widget-text

It makes sense to not allow changes when the event is live for the registrant's protection, BUT it also cannot be edited while the event is in test mode, not collecting real registrations.
