General Questions

Q: What is the survey redesign?

A: the survey redesign is the launch of a new survey solution, Cvent Surveys, that aims at enhancing and modernizing the survey creation, survey management, and survey respondent experiences through the Cvent platform.

To be clear, it is not an improvement applied to the current product, rather a whole new product released.

Q: What customers have access to the survey redesign?

A: All existing survey customers, with an active Inquisium/survey contract, have the ability to access the redesigned survey product at no additional cost.

Q: What account users have visibility to the survey redesign?

A:  The redesigned survey product was automatically activated for account administrative users at the end of 2019. Additional users can be provided access through any account administrative users by modifying user visibility settings. See this article for further instructions.

Q: How can I find the redesigned survey product in my account?

A: The redesigned survey product can be accessed by navigating to and selecting ‘Surveys’ from the solutions drop-down menu or application menu.

Q: Is the Survey redesign intended to replace the Inquisium product?

Yes, the Survey redesign will deliver a product – labelled “Surveys” – that will eventually replace the existing Inquisium product - labelled “Surveys (legacy)”.

Q: When is Survey (legacy) going to be retired?

We are currently planning to retire the Surveys (legacy) product at the end of 2022.

Q: What happens to my ongoing/active Surveys in Surveys (legacy)?

A: Any active or ongoing surveys in Surveys (legacy) will be closed and archived on December 31, 2022. You will not be able to create new surveys after June 30, 2022.

Q: What happens to my historical survey data when Surveys (legacy) is retired?

A: As of July 2021, new functionality was added to Surveys allowing users to access Surveys (legacy) survey details and data within Surveys. This functionality is designed to help with the transition to new Surveys by providing a way to extend access to historical data long past the scheduled sunset for Surveys (legacy).

Q: How do I migrate my surveys?

A: We recommend working with your Account Team to discuss when it is best to begin migration. When you are ready to start moving over from Surveys (legacy), customers will need to rebuild any active surveys they wish to bring forward into Surveys. Cvent offers Survey Build Professional Services that can be discussed with your Accounts Team if additional help or resources are required.  As of July 2021, customers will be able to access survey details and data from Survey (legacy) in Surveys. This will reduce the need for customers to migrate old surveys that are no longer active for the purpose of preserving historical data and allow them to focus solely on transitioning active or on-going surveys..

Q: Can I manually migrate my existing Inquisium Surveys into "Surveys?

A: We recommend customers rebuild or recreate surveys in Surveys to take advantage of new features and styling tools. Before you get started, please work with your Account Team to ensure Surveys has the features and functionality availability you need.

Q: What will I need to do for my API, Salesforce App, or other integrations?

A: Progress for integration support in Surveys is fully underway with support for different features being made available in phases from March 2021 – March 2022. If you are currently using Surveys (legacy) and the Inquisium App for Salesforce, Cvent’s SOAP API, or Cvent’s Integration Hub Services, you should speak with your Account Team prior to starting any migration efforts.

Q: What is available in Surveys (legacy) that will not be available in Surveys?

A: Feature availability and planned releases are tracked on our Survey Redesign Progress Page.  This website will track progress on Surveys (legacy) feature availability being brought forward with the survey redesign. There are many brand-new features with Surveys not specified here as there are too many to enumerate; however, the user experience of the survey designer and the survey guest side are both centerpieces of this project.

Q: If Surveys does not have a feature, will I still be able to use Surveys (legacy)?

A:  Yes, customers will have access to both survey products for over a year while features are continuously added and built out in Surveys. Customers that are not ready to move already active surveys because of feature availability will still be able to use Surveys (legacy) for existing surveys but will want to be aware of sunset milestones that may change availability/access as we approach the planned sunset for the end of 2022. If you have questions about specific features, please reach out to your Account Team and they can provide more information.

Q: Will every feature of Inquisium be included in Surveys?

A:  Based on market demands, customer usage data, and development needs there are a few features that may not be carried forward. The exact list is still being finalized but you can see preliminary details around features marked as retired on our Survey Redesign Process Page.

Q: What training resources will be available to learn Surveys?

A:  The Cvent Community offers a variety of training resources to help you successfully learn about the new solution. Please leverage the Cvent Surveys page on the Solution Evolution Hub to find quick links for the most visited and frequently used trainings and articles.

Q: Where can I submit feedback regarding my experience with Surveys?

A:  We welcome your feedback! In the Surveys application, every page of the product includes a link at the bottom that enables the user to provide feedback.

Q: How will Surveys impact Cvent's GDPR compliance?

A:  It won’t.  There are three primary areas where Surveys addresses GDPR.  First. is the notification to respondents that the site uses cookies.  This is activated in the Survey behavior settings.  Second, is the right to be forgotten, which respondents can request.  Third, is that consent can be managed via a Consent question, which is added to a survey by the planner as a widget on the survey guest side.

Q: What will happen to any of my Surveys that were built by the Professional Services Group or Survey Build Team? Will those templates sync with Surveys or do I have to start from scratch?

A:  Survey data from Surveys (legacy) was made available for use in Surveys starting July 2021.  If a survey in Surveys (legacy) is used as a template, this will need to be recreated in Surveys.  This is actually recommended so you can take advantage of new functionality and styling tools made available with the redesign. Please contact your Account Manager on any Professional Services related work and they can assist you in scoping these changes.

Q: I currently have Surveys that feed data into Cvent Dashboards. Will Cvent Dashboards work with Surveys?

A: Cvent Dashboards cannot showcase data from surveys built with the survey redesign. However, there are future developments planned with Standard Reports to introduce further customization and flexibility that will make way for new “dashboard” style reporting and replace the business need for standalone Cvent Dashboards. These changes are planned to begin in 2022 and the Survey Redesign Roadmap will be updated when we have a tentative date.

Q: How long can I continue to use Surveys (legacy)? Can I still build new surveys on Surveys (legacy)?

A: We will continue to maintain Surveys (legacy) through the planned sunset date, which is currently planned for the end of 2022. There will be sunset milestones prior to the official sunset date that will restrict customers from creating new surveys after a certain date.

Q: Are emails/email design affected?

A:  Yes, there’s a new email designer, and emails designed in the classic designer will not translate to the Surveys. Through Surveys (legacy) access in Surveys, customers will have read-only or viewing access to emails but will not be able to edit these.

Survey Redesign & Flex Events

Q: How does the survey redesign impact feedback I collect through a Flex event in Cvent?

A: The survey redesign officially launched alongside Flex as the new included survey tool that can be enabled in a Flex event and collect feedback from event registrants or attendees. This included feedback solution is known as Surveys Basic and available for customers with an active Event Management license at no additional cost. Surveys Basic is one of two license levels now offered with the survey redesign, Cvent Surveys.

Q: What is Surveys Premium?

A: Surveys Premium is an enhanced survey license available for Cvent Surveys that supports both event and non-event surveys on the Cvent platform.  When used in conjunction with a Flex event, Surveys Premium offer much more than a redesigned survey experience. Event customers can leverage event details, session details, speaker details, credits, and more to establish automated and personalized feedback surveys and achieve more advanced data analytics with access the event details through specialized event feedback survey reports.

Q: Why did Cvent build a new survey solution for event feedback?

A: Since 2007, Cvent has offered a robust standalone survey solution, previously known as Inquisium, as part of our suite of platform solutions. In addition to Inquisium, Cvent also built and maintained different survey solution across other products on the platform. As the platform continues to grow, Cvent wanted to provide one shared survey experience across solutions on the platform and better data transparency for our customers.

Q: Does the survey redesign integrate with (Classic) Events or Express Events?

A: Because Surveys are built to be an extension of a Flex event, this will go beyond the level of integration there in the Inquisium product. Surveys will not integrate with Classic Events or Express Events.

Q: What are the differences between Surveys Basic and Premium?

A: There are many differences between Basic and Premium licenses for Cvent Surveys. To start, Surveys Premium allows for the creation of standalone surveys in addition to fully integrated Flex Event surveys.  Please reference this document to see the primary differences as it relates to collecting event feedback and contact your Cvent Sales or your Account Team if you have more questions.

Q: Do Surveys integrate with or Attendee Hub?

A: Surveys are fully integrated with and incorporated into the web and mobile experiences provided with Attendee Hub, upon login. No additional activation or configuration setup is required to display personalized surveys to the right audiences at the right time, as this is managed through the activation of the event feature – Feedback Surveys. With new advancements in platform design, Attendee Hub standalone customers will also be able to use Cvent Surveys without being required to use Cvent Event Registration.

Surveys are accessible through CrowdCompass when the customer is leveraging Flex for event registration.. These personalized surveys and links can be made available in CrowdCompass by way of dynamic links via the “My Surveys” icon in CrowdCompass.
