  • 1.  Background Checks for Event Attendees

    Does anyone's organization require each visitor and event attendee to go through some sort of security screening for legal compliance reasons? For instance, double checking that each name is not on a sanctions list (OFAC).

    If so, how do you do this? Are you submitting each name through a third party security screening software? Do you have a Cvent integration? Do you close registration by a certain time and not allow walk-ins?

    Hi Alana,

    Yes, some organizations - especially those in regulated industries or with global operations - do require security or compliance screenings, including OFAC list checks for attendees and visitors.

    Typically, this is handled by exporting registrant data from Cvent and running it through a third-party screening tool or legal compliance platform (such as LexisNexis, World-Check, or Dow Jones Risk & Compliance). Currently, Cvent doesn't offer a native integration for real-time sanctions screening, so the process is usually manual or semi-automated outside the platform.

    To manage this effectively, many organizations:

    • Set a hard registration close date to allow time for compliance checks.

    • Disable or restrict walk-ins, or subject them to on-site screening.

    • Include a disclaimer during registration indicating that attendance is subject to approval or verification.
