Hi Diane,
There is not a data tag option within the session description field for a session currently. Within that field, you just have the option to customize the font stylings, alignment, add in a link, bullets, etc., but there is not the data tag icon, meaning that it isn't supported. I would recommend submitting this as an idea to our product team within Participate > Product Ideas.
