  • 1.  Language Translations

    Posted 2 days ago

Hello all, we have a client that needs a website to be ready ASAP! I am trying to figure out how reliant the "Enable language detection" option is for a website. Or do I need to upload the languages under language management? Or will we even have the option to translate to languages other than French, German, and Portugese? We have 8 different languages needed:
    Egypt (English)
    Poland (Polish)
    Romania (Romanian)
    Spain (Castilian Spanish)
    Mexico (Spanish)
    Morocco (French)
    Algeria (French)
    Kazakhstan (Unknown)
    Turkiye (Turkish)
    Brazil (Portugese)

Hello - we just went thru some translations ourselves and I can provide a few notes.

"Enable language detection" does not translate website. It detects which language it should appear when a user opens your site.

You will need to submit a ticket to get all those languages added to your account but I'm not sure if all you listed are available. Once the languages are available, enable them them in the event, Cvent will auto-translate the default copy (fields, buttons, pop-ups). You will need to translate everything else that was custom added like Dietary Restrictions, or Parking needs. The upload file has thousands of fields that would need to be translated if you go that route. My team just went thru a test registration and translated only what's needed including any potential error pop up.

You will also need to think about translating emails into those languages and that's only done thru Email Designer, not language management.
