Is there a way to limit the events someone sees on the event calendar to only those private events they're on the invitation list for?

Hi Lauren,

Unfortunately, no. The standard Event Calendar is not attendee-specific; it shows items you configure to "show on calendar" with planner-defined filters, and it doesn't personalize results per viewer or look up their invitation lists.

I would recommend submitting this as feedback in the ideas section of the community for our product team!
