Let's unveil our remarkable Community star for this month!
I received my BA in Print Journalism from Hofstra University but graduated right as the print news industry was dying, and also realized it wasn’t necessarily the right path for me! I fell into a job doing group coordination at a NYC hotel and realized I loved putting the puzzle pieces together and moved to event planning where I’ve been ever since – over 15 years now.
Lacey is also a noted Cvent Excellence Awards 2024 Finalist.

@Kameron Kidd was able to chat with Lacey and ask some questions.
Wow, what an interesting transition from journalism to event planning. Can you tell us about your current role?
I am the Director of Virtual Events at Catalyst, Inc., a non–profit dedicated to the advancement of women in the workplace and D&I. I’m primarily responsible for all things Cvent – from running the live stream for our hybrid events to managing the webinar and virtual event process overall, as well as reporting, registrations, and more.
How long have you been using Cvent? What Cvent products do you currently use?
I’ve been using Cvent for over 10 years now! I use Attendee Hub, Attendee Hub Event App, Event Management, Exhibitor Management, Access Portal, Integrations, Surveys, OnArrival, v360, Cvent Studio, Event Diagramming, Supplier Network and more that I’m sure I’m forgetting to include.
You've been working with Cvent for a while, which certifications do you hold? Do those certifications help you train others?
I currently hold Virtual Events, Event Management and Attendee Hub Certifications. These have helped me train others across my organization in many different ways, but also has given me the distinction of being the “Cvent guru” with my colleagues – as they know they can come to me for help with any Cvent question or concern.
Do you have a favorite event or venue that you’ve organized or been to? If so, please tell us a little about it.
Organizing the virtual aspect of our 2024 Catalyst Awards Conference & Dinner was one my favorites – it’s a hard balance to find when you’re running a hybrid event – making sure that those watching the livestream can feel as involved as those who are in person at the event. The 2024 Catalyst Awards: The Catalyst Effect in Action The event is a huge undertaking and having the virtual audience give such positive feedback throughout the day and post-event is so rewarding.

The event looks like it was approached with tons of thought, so well done and thanks for sharing!
Do you have a favorite Cvent article or training that you think helped you succeed with Cvent technology?
We recently switched to a new website for the organization and needed to update some of our internal fields and tags to align with information being pulled to the new site. I found the article on Using Custom Event Fields to be incredibly helpful. These were originally set up during our integration process back in 2022, so going back to it, I needed a refresher and the steps were very easy to follow.
How have you helped others within your organization be successful with Cvent technology?
One major way is the introduction of the Access Portal to the Catalyst staff. My colleague and I receive many requests for reports, some that need to be run on a recurring basis. The Access Portal has allowed the staff to be self-serving – asking for the report once and then being able to run the report whenever they need to going forward. This has saved time on both ends and allowed our team to better serve their Supporters and internal stakeholders.
For those who are just starting with Cvent, what advice would you share with them?
Take advantage of everything Cvent has to offer. The Community, trainings, certifications, local events, Cvent CONNECT. It’s all there for you to make your job easier and make using Cvent something that becomes secondhand nature.
What is your favorite Cvent feature and why?
That’s a really hard question! I’d honestly have to say Attendee Hub, since that’s where I live and breathe. I just love the value it adds for the virtual experience, not only the livestream but all of the different interactive features you can include to enhance the attendee experience and how seamlessly it pulls into the mobile app for those using it on-site as well.
We're hugely grateful to Lacey for her time and contributions to the Community. We're looking forward to seeing what you accomplish in 2025! As a token of appreciation, Lacey will receive a Cvent care package.
