  • 1.  Accessibility Questions in Registration

    Posted 09-26-2023 15:54

    Hello!

I am getting the registration page together for an upcoming event and am looking to include questions/information about accessibility.  This isn't something that my company has included in the past, but I think it's important to start including moving forward.  What types of questions do you all ask during registration regarding accessibility?  Are there any phrases or wordings that should be avoided?  Having never collected any info on accessibility needs before, I'm not sure where to start.  Does anyone have any good experiences or references that they could share?

    Thanks!!

    Hi Jess -

Here are a few resources that might help:

    • https://disabilityphilanthropy.org/resource/planning-accessible-meetings-and-events/
    • https://www.cvent.com/en/blog/events/diversity-equality-inclusion-your-events
    • https://www.bizzabo.com/blog/diversity-inclusion-event-checklist
    • https://www.pcma.org/making-your-meeting-more-accessible/
    • https://meetings.skift.com/diversity/
    • https://equity.ubc.ca/resources/accessible-and-inclusive-event-planning/

Just an additional tip.  If your company or organization has a Privacy Team, you may want to also check with them on what is ok to ask and what is not.  You'll also want to be mindful not to collect too much personal identifiable information and aware of data collection laws.

    Hope this helps!
