  • 1.  Allow imported attendees to choose sessions without using "Modify Registration" via registration form

Hello, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to switch from another event app to Cvent. We already have a list of attendees who registered through the previous platform (let's call it APP0) and have imported them into Cvent.

We have now configured optional session selection within Cvent (a registration form for those who will register via an open weblink), while some sessions remain mandatory.

Our goal is to allow these already-registered attendees from APP0 to select their optional sessions themselves.

We found the following approach in the documentation:

    • Enable "Allow Registrants to Modify" under Registration Settings.
    • Create optional session groups to prevent double-booking.
    • Direct attendees to the "Already Registered" page.
    • Have them click "Modify Registration" and then select their sessions.

However, we are concerned that our audience may find the "modify registration" process confusing, as they already consider themselves fully registered.

Is there a simpler way to direct existing registrants straight to the session-selection step, without requiring them to navigate through the registration modification process? For example, is it possible to send them a personalized link that takes them directly to session selection or a dedicated agenda-building page?

We would like to publish the link to the Cvent registration form soon, but we want to ensure that attendees who have already registered are not placed at a disadvantage.

    Thanks!

    Hi Asami,

Cvent recently added an option to the Modify Registration button where you can assign a Destination that directs registrants to a specific page or widget. That could cut down on a little bit of the work registrants have to do. This link has information on how to set that up: https://support.cvent.com/s/communityarticle/Modifying-Registrations (do a CTRL+F in your browser and search for Destination to find those instructions quicker)

If you're using Attendee Hub, you can also allow registrants to select sessions in the event website and/or mobile app - you just have to make sure that the "Allow registration in Attendee Hub" option is enabled for every optional session.

Either way, I've seen success when an email is sent to all registrants announcing that sessions are ready to be chosen and providing the steps on how to do that.

Asami, thanks for directing to the Cvent article.  I had played around with the new modification button set to a specific page in the registration path.  Unfortunately I didn't continue my testing or investigation the settings.  I noticed right away it only allowed changes to that page of questions and I needed to allow for two pages. (hotel & air)  Now I know!  You can add multiple modification buttons and name them accordingly.  I will definitely be using this moving forward to collect air actuals.
