     Is there a way to connect invitees to their source IDs when they are registered as guests of a primary registrant? Due to the nature of how we determine our invitee lists (from a separate CRM), we import our guest lists into Cvent with every event. We have found that this creates duplicates within our Cvent Contacts and results in guests not having an assigned source ID, which we use for tracking purposes. Really, I'm looking for best practices to ensure all attendees, guests and primary registrants are connected to their source IDs.

    Hi Analiesa,

    When you are importing your file into the invitation list when you select import contacts on the first page it asks if you would like to match via email or Source ID. If you select source ID it will match on that value.

    Thank you for that reminder, Carl. But the issue is when a guest, who is connected with a source ID in our Cvent contacts and on our uploaded list, is registered as a guest of a primary registrant their email and ID end up becoming duplicates by name and sometimes by email address when the primary registrant includes the guest's email in their registration. 

    My guess is that there isn't a way to connect guests of primary registrants to names/IDs/email addresses in Contacts.

    Hi Analiesa,

    I assumed Guest meant registrant as not all Cvent users use the term to refer to the guest widget unfortunately yes, for the guest widget we are not able to connect the guest to an existing contact.

    Thank you clarifying and confirming this for me. Is including the functionality to connect a guest widget to an existing contact a possible future update?

    I also have another question on this. If we match someone to the source ID, do they still have to have a unique email address? Some people have duplicate emails in our CRM.

    Hi Kelli,

    Yes, even with source ID we still require a unique email address.
