The Speaker Resource Center is a valuable tool that presents numerous opportunities to automate communication between you, as the organizer, and the speaker.
Here are the things the SRC won't do for you as a planner:
- Does not have a data tag for the last name of the speaker nor their prefix to indicate Mr. or Ms. - Expect that when your SRC invite goes out, your email will sound like "Hey, Steve", and not "Dear Mr. or Ms. Smith"
- Won't let you know if you have actually hit "Send SRC invite". There is no status report for when the SRC invite was sent out. It would be super nice to see in the speaker list a status of whether the speaker has been invited or not yet.
- Similarly, there is no CC in the SRC. Yes, you can add an administrator. But how will it look like? Still problematic. - As an administrator for a speaker, it will look as if you are the speaker yourself. The speaker and the administrator will receive 2 separate email, with the administrator receiving the email with their name on the SRC invite. So instead of "Hi, Steve", it will look like "Hi, Admin, please access your SRC link".
- Also, 1 administrator for 1 speaker, not 1 to 2 or more. This does not help the administrator working for one company that has multiple speakers.
- Accessing the SRC: While sending out the SRC is a click of a button, accessing the SRC is not. This defeats the purpose of making it easier for the speakers. When the speaker does receive the invite, they get to the platform, then they need a verification code to access the tasks. This poses as a problem because the verification email for the code gets sent out with the Cvent email. This not only creates confusion, but sometimes a technical barrier, as some companies have a firewall from email that they do not recognize. Alot of the speakers would rather transmit their photo, bio, etc., directly through email instead of going through the hassle.
- Task feature: The holy grail of the SRC that could have been. We often have a lot of speakers that tick the boxes without actually completing the task. Would be nice if the task automatically gets checked out when the buttons within the task gets interacted with. Otherwise, we have to log in one by one in the speaker's SRC to verify that they have actually done the task.
- The naming of the task, while not so important to all, is quite important for us. We had to name the tasks with numbers first before the actual task name, so that it will make sense in chronological order. The problem comes in when we have to send out the reminder for incomplete tasks, where it will look like 1. 3. 4. 5., because the 2. has already been completed.
That is all folks! Comment down below if you have faced other issues with SRC.
P.S. I see alot of improvements being done in the events platform. One day we just log in and some interface has changed or some features gets added. Hope one day it will also be the SRC!
