  • 1.  Creating Sessions, with two waves of registration

    Posted 20 days ago

    Hello, all!

Q1: My clients want to set up the general registration to have guests initial register and pay for their conference, but then want to release breakout sessions for RSVP later. Is there a way to do this? We do not have all the breakout sessions nailed down yet, but we need to get invitations out for RSVPs to start.

Q2: Is there a way to request that guests tell us about any dietary restrictions within the registration?

    Thank you, in advance.

    Hello Nidia,

Q1: This happens for many conferences. You know the when the event but don't have the sessions as you say nailed down. Have your invitees register for the event letting them know the sessions will be available soon. They will be able to login, using their email & confirmation number, to modify their registration, and choose from the available sessions.

Q2: We have created custom contact questions for dietary needs or accessibility needs. If you are not the admin or don't have access to create custom contact questions you can just use a text question widget.  In the Site Designer there are the sections of Registration Information, Standard Contact Fields, Custom Contact Fields, and Questions. Just create a question "Do you have any special dietary needs?" and you can make the question optional or required to answer.

Cvent has a newer feature when you're adding the Modify Registration button to the confirmation page of registration too called Destination. You could create a new Modify Registration button (and rename it) with the Destination set to the Sessions page, or just modify the current one.

    Hi Veronica,

We did waves of "registration" for our ticketed sessions last year. Utilizing the Advanced Rules was a huge bonus, as when there weren't any slots available, if they tried clicking it would show a message stating that more seats would be released at a later date.

For the "ticket release" we would increase the capacity for each session. As seats came available, attendees would add it to their agenda. We did this without enabling the waitlist.
