Hi Miriam!
Just from experience, I would suggest to always try to compress images used in emailers to the smallest size you can get away with, without losing quality. 2 MB is quite large for an email, so I'm not sure if the Cvent emailing system automatically optimises and compresses the images we use or not, but rule of thumb we often try to stick with is under 100 kb per image.
We avoid using images only - as some email clients don't automatically download pictures on emails, so some might not then be able to read the information if included on a graphic. So we send images as well as text, to make sure anyone opening can always see the main details.
You can use PhotoShop to export images via the 'Save for web legacy' tool. This compresses the graphic while retaining quality, which you can compare with the original to adjust the final output. (I find PS has the best compression tool, and even when using Illustrator I export to a psd file and then compress from Photoshop).
The issues this helps to avoid is getting trapped in the receivers spam filters, or blocked altogether.
I have successfully sent 100s of emails from the Cvent system, all containing images - and only a few get caught in recipient spam folders - and a very small amount have the cvent domains blocked completely, but you can advise them to add the Cvent IP's and domains to their allow lists with their IT companies.
This might help for that: https://support.cvent.com/s/communityarticle/What-domains-should-we-whitelist-for-Cvent-emails

Hope this helps a little! :)

Subject: Images used in emails
Hi everybody, we would like to use an image for a Save the Date email. Images can be used and I read the limit is 2MB. Has anyone ever experienced any issues with bulk emails and using an image? (like the emails were not send or dispatch problems)
