I graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a degree in Sports, Entertainment and Event Management with the hope of becoming a wedding and social event planner. My career started working as an event coordinator at different venues, like a Modern Art Museum and a country club. During my first few years in the industry, I was focused on weddings, holiday events, and family gatherings. My career goals shifted, and I decided to get into the corporate planning world and began working for an event experience agency. I worked with a variety of companies, from automotive to tech, managing their room blocks and trade show presence. This led me to my current role at Meetings & Incentives Worldwide, where I find myself in the pharmaceutical world often (among other industries), assisting with travel, hotel management, and meeting planning. It’s been nearly 10 years since I graduated, and while my focus has changed from baby showers to business meetings, my “why” has not changed. I found myself in the hospitality industry to help people, and I hope to spend the next 10+ years doing the same.

Can you share a little about your current role?
I am an Event Experience Manager at Meetings & Incentives Worldwide, an event management company that supports a wide variety of companies with their meetings, events, travel, and incentive programs.
How long have you been using Cvent products?
I’ve been using Cvent for about 5 years now. In fact, I was trained at the Cvent home office in Tyson’s Corner when Flex was being launched! I started my Cvent journey by building websites and managing registrations, but now I use Cvent for MRF submission, surveys, OnArrival, and more.
Do you have a favorite event or venue that you've been a part of?
My first event for Meetings & Incentives took place in Chicago. We were able to take the group on a Chicago River cruise for dinner, cocktails, and karaoke. It was a rather simple event, but watching clients sing while cruising down a rather populated Riverwalk made for a fun time.
Are you Cvent certified, and if so, which certifications do you hold?
I recently passed the Cvent Venue Sourcing certification and am due to renew my Event Management certification! Having Cvent experience and the Event Management certification helped me get my current role.
How have you helped others within your organization be successful with Cvent technology?
Our entire organization has a “one team” mentality. If someone doesn’t know how to do something in Cvent, we typically reach out and see who does! Many people in our organization use Cvent, so we often share tips and tricks.
What advice would you share for those who are just starting with Cvent?
Reference Cvent trainings, articles, and posts! If you find yourself struggling to figure something out, there is likely a simple article or video out there that can answer your question.
What is your favorite Cvent feature?
Registration and reporting. I once manually managed an event with over 2,000 people in attendance and used paper, pencil, and a fax machine. If only I had Cvent then...
