    We have waitlists on a few sessions for an upcoming company event. I don't plan on opening additional seats for any of those sessions so they can only join if someone backs out. The problem is that they won't be signed up for any sessions during that time if no seats open for the waitlist people. Is there a way to use waitlists but also make them have to select another session to attend should no seats open for people on the waitlist? There should be the ability to join a waitlist for a session, but select a backup session in case they can't join the waitlisted session.

    Hi Maggie,

    Do you have a limit set for how many sessions that registrants are able to select in the registration process? If so, within the advanced settings of your admission item(s) you can set a maximum number of sessions that each invitee can select and you have the option to "count waitlisted sessions towards these limits" yes or no. If you set this to no, they will be able to add themselves to the waitlist for a session and then also select another session. See screenshot below as an example:

    Hi Julia,

     

    Looks like that was the exact issue. We are a week from registration close and I had previously turned off waitlists when it wasn't behaving as I thought it would. But I will be saving your comments/instructions and using them to make sure I have it set up properly next time. Thank you so much for the reply and info.
