Headshot of Beline Falzon, June Member Spotlight

Hi, my name is Béline Falzon. I have a master's degree in Marketing and Communication from SciencesPo Paris, and I came to event planning from the fine food industry. Since January 2018, my role has been 100% event management.

You can find and connect with Beline on LinkedIn here:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/belinefalzon/

Beline is also a member of our Higher Education User Group.

@Kameron Kidd was able to chat with Beline and ask her some questions.

Can you share a little about your current role at Stanford University?

I'm currently the Senior Event Planner for the Stanford King Center on Global Development (Stanford), planning everything from intimate luncheons to multi-day, multi-track academic conferences. I plan over 60 events a year, and they are a mix of in-person, hybrid, and virtual events, so there's never a boring day in the office!

How long have you been using Cvent products?

I have been using Cvent since 2018 - I've been through the RegOnline acquisition, the switch from Classic to Flex, and of course the birth of the Attendee Hub (I was an early adopter during the pandemic). I've mostly used the website and event registration tools, as well as the AttendeeHub and Event App, but I've also used OnArrival, Speaker Resource Portal, Exhibitor Management, Diagramming, and Access Portal.

Do you have a favorite event?

It was pre-pandemic with my previous employer, but I got to be a small part of the Westminster Dog Show. I worked for the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine at the time, and we provided veterinary care for the show dogs. Coordinating travel and work shifts for 30+ people was, let's say, an endeavor, and the days on-site were quite long, but it was so much fun to meet all the dogs and be part of such a storied event.

Do you have a favorite training that you think helped you succeed with Cvent technology?

There are many articles I'll look for or pull up as needed, but the one I used the most is probably the Attendee Hub Graphics Cheat Sheet. I would also recommend that newcomers to Cvent go through the basic training with a test event they can mess up on! The learning curve is no joke, especially with so many features now available.

Are you Cvent certified, and if so, which certifications do you hold?

I'm Cvent Certified in Advanced Event Management, Event Marketing Strategy, Hybrid Events, and Virtual Events. These certifications are a great way to check your knowledge as the tool gets more advanced and to show you know what you're doing. I've definitely recommended others take the certifications to ensure they are ready to build events on their own.

How have you helped others within your organization be successful with Cvent technology?

Cvent was recently rolled out university-wide at Stanford, but I've been using it for a while, so I got to help new users with their first event build and show them my favorite tips and tricks.

What advice would you share for those who are just starting with Cvent?

For new users, my number one tip is to get into the tool and start messing around. As you run into technical obstacles, Cvent's customer service can help point you in the right direction, and if you're having more of an existential crisis on which of several possible paths you should take with your event built, there's an amazing community of peers right there to help answer your questions.

What is your favorite Cvent feature?

Hard to pick a favorite feature, but I would have to say the way that the different bits of the software draw from the same content is amazing and saves so much time and potential for human error. Anyone who's ever updated a session in one document but forgot to do it in another will know what I mean.

We're hugely grateful to Beline for her time and contributions to the Community. We're looking forward to seeing what you accomplish in 2024! As a token of appreciation, Beline will receive a Cvent care package.
